"En Plein Air" Paintings and Drawings
Down the Connaught road (oil on canvas)
This is my first attempt at a plein air painting. I drove out south of Wainright, AB one weekend while I was in school specifically to create my first plein air. I remember it was cold that day sitting in the back of my RAV 4 with the door swung wide open painting away with cold hands on this little table easel I had set up. I noticed how different it was to paint outdoors from real life. It's a different feel I must say, trying to capture the essence of the real landscape can be quite challenging. It was even challenging for me to choose what to paint. It was a great experience however and I feel that going outdoors and painting from life does help sharpen the eye.
